When we talk about natural law school, many popular thinkers can be seen as Plato, Aristotle, Socrates and you all have heard about them. So from the starting of Natural law school , we can begin from Ancient times and further to Medieval and then Modern .
Natural law school refers to ‘ Laws made never change ’ according to the school , there are certain laws which are immutable and eternal. Laws are constant body of a permanent truth , unaffected by human beliefs as attitude also called moral or divine law, law of reason, law of God. Natural law is based on an “ A prior proposition ” . Which means knowledge that is acquired independently of any particular experience. So the development of natural law theories can be divided into four time periods , Ancient in which we talk about the thinker Socrates, Aristotle, Plato, Cicero and others.
Ancient Period
(2000 – 2500) years ago
Ancient law school can be started from Greek civilization, followed worldwide and is preserved in literature. Socrates ( Political philosopher ) who define ‘virtue’ , Concept of good . Every man possessed virtue according to which he can critically evaluate the positive law and developed way of teaching called the “Socrates method ” , In this method students learn through the use of critical thinking, reasoning and logic. This method or technique involves finding loop holes in their own theories and then patching them up. Our current, “Scientific method” is inspired by Socratic method but for his efforts in 399 BC, he was put on trial and executed for corrupting the ‘young and believing in strange gods.’
